Lagan College, BelfastSaint-Gobain Ecophon once again proved its versatility with a wide range of specialist solutions supplied to the Lagan College project. The acoustic ceiling specialist has a strong reputation within the education sector and, as such was able to meet varying demands for specific solutions at this project. From the foyer and atrium through to corridors, classrooms, sports hall and changing rooms, Ecophon products have been installed at Lagan College:

Gedina E was installed in the foyer and atrium areas. This product is perfect for applications where a suspended ceiling with an exposed grid is required and individual tiles are easily demountable.

In the new sports hall, Super G A was specified to meet the high demands regarding impact resistance while also delivering an improved sound environment. The tough surface is developed to withstand impact, making it perfect for sport halls and other similar environments.

In the classrooms, Master E and Advantage A were installed, with Advantage A also being specified for the corridors. The Advantage range guarantees good value-for-money that meets essential requirements regarding acoustics, moisture resistance and mechanical strength. Available in a number of sizes, Advantage aims to provide effortless handling and straight-forward installation.

The Master product range is suitable for classrooms, open plan offices or other premises where strict demands are made on good acoustics and speech intelligibility. This range has a recessed visible grid and a tegular edge design, creating a ceiling with a shadow effect that accentuates each tile and partially conceals the grid system. The visible surface of each tile is 10mm below the grid and each tile is easily demountable.

Finally, Hygiene Performance A and Ecophon Meditec E were selected for the toilets and changing areas. Hygiene Meditec is a wall to wall, sound-absorbing ceiling system intended for environments where disinfection and/or cleaning is required on a regular basis. The system consists of Hygiene Meditec tiles, which have a core of high density glass wool utilizing the 3RD Technology and a painted cleanable Akutex™ TH surface. The rear side of the tile is covered with glass tissue. Hygiene Performance is a wall to wall, sound-absorbing ceiling system intended for environments where there is a risk of slight contamination, and where cleaning is required on a regular basis.

Ecophon absorbers are made of glass wool, consisting of more than 80% recycled household glass. 3RD Technology is utilised in most products meaning that the traditional petroleum-based binder in the glass wool is replaced by a renewable plant-based binder. Waste materials from the company’s production are recycled into drainage pellets, EcoDrain™.
