‘Well-being through work’ is the slogan of the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH). This motto was also the guideline for the refurbishment of the FIOH office spaces. The main part of the office areas were open-plan offices, which posed some acoustic challenges. Therefore it was very important to plan for the acoustics at an early stage. During the planning phase, three main areas were put into focus;
- acoustics
- lighting
- indoor air quality
The desicion was then to cover the whole space with a class A acoustic ceiling and to install fitted carpets on the floor. The acoustic ceiling should also create a light, floating look in the office spaces, and be easy to demount for cleaning purposes. Master Matrix fulfilled these demands and was selected as the acoustic solution. The choice of indirect lighting further enhanced the floating effect of the ceiling.
