Bio Rex Lasipalatsi, a prestigious cinema in Helsinki, has been restored to its original splendor with a renovation in spring 2024. The project, which honoured the movie theatre's spirit and history, upgraded the presentation technology, acoustics and seating comfort. The changes were commissioned by Konstsamfundet, Rex Events and BioRex Cinemas and executed in close collaboration with the Helsinki City Museum, architects and suppliers of building materials and equipment.

Bio Rex Lasipalatsi, built in 1936, was one of the most modern and spacious cinemas in Helsinki at the time. It has been a central venue for film festivals and other events in recent years, and it will become an even more integral part of the new Lasipalatsi culture complex after the reopening.

The acoustics of the hall were improved by adding absorbing material to the walls and the back of the hall. Eight sound-absorbing Clipso So Acoustic fields (standard colour 4052 Cendre/Ash) were installed on the sidewalls. Ecophon Clipso™ is an acoustic stretch fabric that can be used to upholster walls and ceilings. The fabric is installed quickly and neatly without heating, so you can create unique implementations in no time.
