“I have long been curious about why some rooms and spaces feel more harmonious and pleasant to be in than others. What makes me feel relaxed and calm in one room but stressed and uncomfortable in another? How can I influence wellbeing and behaviour through the design of a room?
During my years as a project manager for a hospital renovation in southern Sweden, I became aware that sound and acoustics play a significant role in the experience of a room. During meetings and conferences, the importance of a dampened sound environment was often discussed as a part of patient recovery and for the wellbeing and performance of the staff. The healthcare staff expressed a need to be able to communicate clearly in their premises without having to raise their voices or be disturbed by background noise and buzz. However, the staff often wondered if and how the need for a well-developed acoustic system was compatible with the strict requirements of healthcare for safety, cleaning, and hygiene factors. Therefore, it feels especially nice for me to be a part of Ecophon today, which takes a good acoustic environment seriously.
In my role as a concept developer for healthcare facilities, I have the privilege of working with colleagues and partners to improve the health and wellbeing of both patients and relatives as well as the staff.
Through passion, responsibility, and openness, Ecophon contributes to creating a good sound environment where it is needed the most. In my role as a concept developer for healthcare facilities, I have the privilege of working with colleagues and partners to improve the health and wellbeing of both patients and relatives as well as the staff. And to answer the question, yes, it is possible to achieve a good sound environment even in the most hygiene-demanding healthcare facilities. It is truly amazing!”
