Norra Latin, designed by Helgo Zettervall, served as a school for over 100 years, from 1880 to 1985. After a period as a congress and event venue, the building has now been restored to its original purpose. As a blue classified heritage building, strict requirements have been placed on detailing and modernisation, with a particular focus on acoustics, accessibility, and safety.
Today, Norra Latin is home to Stockholm International School (SIS), a middle and high school with 500 students from over 60 different countries. Thanks to our acoustic solutions, we help create an inspiring school environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive.
In the school's communal areas, such as corridors, stairwells, and the dining hall, Ecophon Fade™ acoustic plaster has been installed to preserve the building’s grand character. This solution provides a sleek and seamless surface that effectively reduces noise levels. The classrooms are equipped with Ecophon Master™ Ds with Extra Bass integrated into the stucco, as well as Ecophon Akusto™ Wall A wall absorbers with a Texona surface in the colour Pepper and wooden trim details. These measures ensure an optimal acoustic environment that supports both teaching and learning. In the gymnasium, Ecophon Super G™ B has been installed in the ceiling – a solution specifically designed to handle the acoustic challenges of this type of space.
The building has achieved a BREEAM In-Use certification at the Excellent level, further emphasising its commitment to sustainability and quality.
