Jernhusen’s headquarters is a clear example of circular economy in practice. Nearly everything in the premises has been reused – from building materials to furnishings – helping to conserve resources and reduce climate impact.
The acoustic solutions are based on reused sound absorbers, including Ecophon Gedina™ A Reuse and Ecophon Focus™ A Reuse. These are part of SoundCircularity™ – an Ecophon initiative aimed at extending the lifespan of acoustic products through reuse. For components that couldn’t be reused, the Recycling service was used to ensure the materials are repurposed rather than sent to landfill.
In addition to the Reuse range, Ecophon Focus™ A CarbonLow has also been installed – a product designed to offer a lower climate impact than traditional alternatives, without compromising acoustic performance.
Reuse goes far beyond the acoustic elements – everything from building materials to interior design has been given a second life. Walls, electrical components and ventilation systems have been reused, along with curtains, furniture, and desk surfaces made from recycled hospital textiles. A custom-built sofa made from coffee waste is yet another creative example of sustainable design.
Together, these choices create a work environment where function, aesthetics and sustainability go hand in hand – and where resources are kept in circulation.
